Pipe Puzzle Solution (After the Patch)
The AUX room valve puzzle in the SWDP facility (chapter Trying Again) was changed by the latest patch, so the layouts in older guides and videos no longer work. This is the current solution, checked on our own platinum run, with video.
The solution (current patch)
Stand next to the locker behind the computer and work along each line from that end. The lines are numbered on the wall: Line 1 is the bottom row, Line 2 the middle row, Line 3 the top row. Every valve points either up or right.
- Line 1 (bottom): up, right, up, up, right, up, right, up, up
- Line 2 (middle): up, right, right, right, up, right, right, up, up
- Line 3 (top): up, right, up, right, up, up, up, right
When every valve is right the red lights turn green and the game autosaves.
Where is the pipe puzzle in Silent Hill: Townfall?
It's in the AUX room in the north-west corner of the first floor of the SWDP facility, near the end of the game, during the chapter Trying Again (CEG HQ, the “Different” version). You can't open it straight away:
- In the upper control room, run the first console commands until the printout says the operator took a key from a locker.
- Open the locker on the right with 0825: it holds the AUX Key (and shotgun shells).
- Take the lift to the first floor, slip past the enemy in the middle and unlock the AUX door in the north-west corner.
- Inside, the metal cabinet holds a first-aid box and the AUX Disk. Put the disk in the computer and read Auxiliary Lines (a clue, and one of the 85 discoveries) before you start turning valves.
How to read the lines
- Each line is a horizontal pipe running around the room with valves along it. The wall marks them 1, 2, 3: 1 = bottom, 2 = middle, 3 = top.
- Always count the valves starting from the end next to the locker behind the computer, then follow the pipe around the room.
- A valve handle can point up or right. Set each one as listed, then move to the next. Line 1 and Line 2 have nine valves, Line 3 has eight.
- If the lights stay red, go back along each line from the locker end and recount; one valve off is enough to fail it.
After the pipes
Ride the lift back down, lock yourself in the control room and enter the next console commands to send the operator to Valve F in the basement. The full sequence, every code and every collectible on the way are in our platinum walkthrough and on the all puzzle solutions page.
FAQ
Did the Silent Hill Townfall pipe puzzle change?
Yes. A post-launch patch changed the AUX valve layout, so the old four-row solution doesn't work any more. Use the three-line solution above.
Which line is line 1?
The bottom one. The wall numbers them from the bottom: 1 bottom, 2 middle, 3 top.
