Run by day, survive the night
A decade on, Dying Light still nails the fantasy no other zombie game does: free-running across Harran's rooftops by day, then sprinting in terror from Volatiles once the sun goes down. Fluid parkour plus brutal melee makes it one of the best open-world survival games on PS Plus.
The platinum is a fair, enjoyable grind. You'll clear the story and every side quest, hit the combat and skill milestones, capture safe zones, and put in a few nights dodging Volatiles. The only thing standing between you and the platinum is a handful of online co-op trophies — the good news is Dying Light's co-op is peer-to-peer and still works.
The catches
The Whole Story (all side quests) is the main thing to watch — some side quests become unavailable as the story advances, so clear them as you go. Four trophies (Lucky 7, Harran Athletics, I've Got Your Back, Polyamory) need online co-op, so line up a friend — Polyamory wants three partners in one session. Everything else is natural play or quick cleanup.
The Verdict — Pros
- Genre-best parkour and day/night tension
- Meaty, varied, genuinely fun platinum
- Co-op still works — trophies are obtainable
The Verdict — Cons
- Four trophies need online co-op partners
- Some side quests are missable mid-story
- A few grindy kill/collectible milestones
Dying Light — Platinum Roadmap
Step-by-Step Roadmap
Story + every side quest
Play the campaign but clear side quests as you reach them — some expire as the story moves on. This covers Bittersweet and The Whole Story.
Ranks, skills & night play
Level Survivor, Agility and Power ranks (play at night for bonus XP), survive a level-2 night pursuit, and knock out the challenges and craft/lockpick milestones.
Combat & world cleanup
Grind the kill trophies (kicks, throws, firearms, traps), capture all Safe Zones and clear all Quarantine Zones, and grab the text collectibles.
Co-op trophies → platinum
Team up online for Lucky 7, Harran Athletics, I've Got Your Back and Polyamory. Mop up any stragglers and the Platinum is yours.
