Story & Difficulty
Ten trophies: the story milestones in the order you'll earn them, and the three difficulty trophies that all stack on a single Death March! playthrough.

Lilac and Gooseberries
BronzeFull guideCollapse
Find Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Lilac and Gooseberries
BronzeFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Story, White Orchard. Pops when Geralt finally catches up with Yennefer at the end of the prologue quest Lilac and Gooseberries, after the griffin hunt.
Tip
Finishing White Orchard's story leads straight into Imperial Audience, the first point of no return. Do White Orchard's side quests, the Places of Power and the gwent card first.

A Friend in Need
BronzeFull guideCollapse
Find and free Dandelion.

A Friend in Need
BronzeFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Story, Novigrad. The Novigrad arc is about tracking Dandelion down through the city's underworld. The trophy pops when you finally break him out.
Tip
Novigrad is where most of the missable story content starts: Triss, Roche, Dijkstra and the gwent tournament. Read the Novigrad section of the walkthrough before you rush the main quest.

Necromancer
BronzeFull guideCollapse
Help Yennefer extract information from Skjall's body.

Necromancer
BronzeFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Story, Skellige. Pops during Yennefer's necromancy ritual on Skjall's body in the Skellige main questline. You can't miss it.
Tip
Skellige is also where the Kingmaker chain runs. Start Possession and The Lord of Undvik while you're there.

Family Counselor
BronzeFull guideCollapse
Find the baron's wife and daughter.

Family Counselor
BronzeFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Story, Velen. The Bloody Baron arc: track down his daughter Tamara (in Oxenfurt) and his wife Anna (in Crookback Bog). It pops as the arc resolves.
Tip
Whatever you decide about the spirit under the Whispering Hillock, the trophy still pops. Finish the Baron's follow-up in Crookback Bog before The Isle of Mists, or it fails.

Something More
BronzeFull guideCollapse
Find Ciri.

Something More
BronzeFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Story, Act II. Pops on The Isle of Mists when Geralt finds Ciri.
Tip
This is the biggest point of no return in the game. Before you sail to the Isle of Mists, finish Keira's chain, Triss's quests, the Roche and Dijkstra quests up to A Deadly Plot, the masquerade, A Dangerous Game and the fencing and Cabaret quests. See Missables & Choices.

Xenonaut
BronzeFull guideCollapse
Visit Tir ná Lia and convince Ge'els to betray Eredin.

Xenonaut
BronzeFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Story, Act III. Avallac'h's portal trip into the world of the Aen Elle takes you to Tir ná Lia. The trophy pops when the talks with Ge'els end with him agreeing to turn on Eredin.
Tip
Unmissable. Just follow the main quest.

The King is Dead
SilverFull guideCollapse
Defeat Eredin.

The King is Dead
SilverFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Story, finale. Beat Eredin, King of the Wild Hunt, in the last main quests. His frost attacks and summons are telegraphed: keep Quen up, dodge rather than roll, and punish him after each combo.
Tip
On Death March, bring your best potions (Swallow, Thunderbolt), your best oil and a stack of food. Save before the fight.

Passed the Trial
BronzeFull guideCollapse
Finish the game on any difficulty.

Passed the Trial
BronzeFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Finish the base-game main story. It stacks with the two difficulty trophies below.
Tip
The game drops you back into free roam after the ending, so you can clean up afterwards.

Ran the Gauntlet
SilverFull guideCollapse
Finish the game on the "Blood and Broken Bones!" or "Death March!" difficulty levels.

Ran the Gauntlet
SilverFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Finish the game on Blood and Broken Bones! or Death March!. It stacks with Walked the Path, so a Death March run gets you both.

Walked the Path
GoldFull guideCollapse
Finish the game on the "Death March!" difficulty level.

Walked the Path
GoldFull guideCollapseHow to earn it
Finish the game on Death March!, the hardest setting. Start on it from the very first menu. The first ~10 hours are the hardest (low level, few potions). Once you have Quen, Swallow, oils and decent gear, it settles down.
Tip
Stay on Death March until the credits roll, never lowering it mid-run. Once the difficulty trophies pop, you're free to lower it for the post-game cleanup, which is how we did it. Death March tips: always apply the right oil, keep Quen up, dodge (don't roll) against monsters, and upgrade Swallow early.
Death March survival kit
| Tool | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Quen | Absorbs a hit. Recast it after every hit you take. The single biggest Death March lifesaver. |
| Oils | Always apply the oil that matches the bestiary entry. On Death March it's a large damage boost. |
| Swallow | Your main healing. Upgrade it as soon as you can; potions refill when you meditate with alcohol in your bag. |
| Dodge, don't roll | The short dodge is faster and cheaper. Only roll away from big area attacks. |
| Food | Slow regeneration outside meditation. Keep a stack for boss fights. |
| Crossbow | Knocks flyers (harpies, griffins, wyverns) out of the sky, and drowners out of the water. |
