A bigger city, a longer night
Dying Light 2 doubles down on everything that made the original special: fluid, weighty parkour across a sprawling city, and that unbeatable tension when the sun drops and the infected pour out of the buildings. Villedor is bigger and more vertical than Harran ever was, and getting around it is a genuine joy.
As a platinum, it's long but forgiving — Techland rates the difficulty around 4/10. There are no skill-check trophies and nothing tied to a hard difficulty; you can do everything on the easiest setting. What stretches it to 50–80 hours is sheer volume: a big story, every side quest and collectible, all the Points of Interest on the map, and a couple of long grinds.
The catches
Three things need planning. First, Inhibitors — you find these to upgrade Health and Stamina, and two trophies want you to max both stats, which needs more Inhibitors than one clean run gives you. Most hunters use a save-backup method to earn both on a single playthrough instead of replaying the game. Second, there are five missable trophies (a Prologue collectible, a faction-assignment choice and a few tapes) that are far easier to grab as you go than to fix later. Third, two co-op trophies genuinely need a second player — they can't be done solo.
The Verdict — Pros
- Best-in-class parkour and day/night tension
- Low difficulty — no hard-mode or skill trophies
- One playthrough with the save-backup method
The Verdict — Cons
- Very long — 50–80 hours of content
- Two trophies need an online co-op partner
- A grindy 500 km distance stat and Inhibitor juggling
Dying Light 2 — Platinum Roadmap
Step-by-Step Roadmap
Grab the missable Prologue note
Before you finish the intro, collect the Prologue Memento for Archivist. It becomes unavailable once you leave, and it's the single most-missed trophy in the game (~1 hour, do it first).
Story + side quests + collectibles
Play the campaign on any difficulty. Clear all side quests, hoover up collectibles and audio tapes as you pass them (a couple of tapes sit in story-only areas), and assign all seven facilities to the same faction for Boot Licker. Preserve your Inhibitors for Step 3. (~25–35 hours)
Max Health & Stamina (save-backup)
Back up your save, spend every Inhibitor into Health for Ironheart, reload the backup, then spend them all into Stamina for Fit as a Fiddle. This earns both maxed-stat trophies without a second playthrough.
Points of Interest + the big grinds
Complete every Point of Interest on the map and finish off the combat/parkour milestones. The ~500 km travelled stat is the long pole — many hunters idle with a rubber-banded stick to rack up distance while afk. (~10–15 hours active)
Co-op trophies → Platinum
Bring in a partner: join a co-op session for Being All Social, and kill 100 enemies together for That's Teamwork!. Clean up any stragglers and the Platinum pops. (~1–2 hours)
Trophies to Plan Around
The other ~50 trophies come naturally from story, side quests and cleanup. These are the ones that trip people up — sort them early and the platinum is a formality.
| Trophy | Type | How to earn it — and how not to miss it |
|---|---|---|
| Missable | ||
| Archivist | Missable | Collect the Prologue Memento (a note) before leaving the intro area. Unavailable afterward — grab it first, before anything else. |
| Boot Licker | Missable | Assign all 7 facilities (water towers & electrical stations) to the same faction. Decide your faction early and give every facility to them — reassigning later is limited. |
| Audiophile | Semi-missable | Collect all audio tapes. A few sit in story-only areas you can't revisit, so pick tapes up as you move through main missions. |
| Ironheart | Inhibitors | Max your Health. Needs a lot of Inhibitors — pair it with the save-backup trick (spend all into Health, then reload) so you don't have to replay. |
| Fit as a Fiddle | Inhibitors | Max your Stamina. The other half of the save-backup method — reload the backup and dump every Inhibitor into Stamina instead. |
| Online co-op | ||
| Being All Social | Online | Join or host one co-op session. Cannot be done solo — needs a second player. |
| That's Teamwork! | Online | Kill 100 enemies while playing with two or more players. Do it in the same session as the trophy above. |
| Long grind | ||
| The distance stat | Grind | Travel roughly 500 km cumulatively. By far the longest task — most hunters rubber-band the stick and idle overnight to top it up while afk. |
