The Three Courts — Ambrus, Bakir & Xanthe
The main story is three boss questlines. Here's how to trigger each court, the quest chains and level gates, and how to win the fights — the three kills earn The Right Fist of the Knyaz, The Mad Khan and The Dark Mistress. Pairs with our full walkthrough.
Ambrus

The Right Fist of the Knyaz
Available from Level 1 — do this court firstAmbrus is the court you can start on immediately after the prologue. Grind his Court Activities until enough anger accumulates and his quest triggers.
- Blood Transports
- Prisoner Processing Camps
- Leech Collectors
- Prisoner Transports
- Blood Cellars
- Ambrus's Dungeons
Clearing roughly 75% of the above hands you “The Gilded Gauntlet”, which leads into “The Bittersweet Toast” — the duel where you kill Ambrus.
It's a one-on-one duel, so it's all about the directional trade: read his swing direction, parry, and punish. Turn on Omniblock/Omniattack if you're still learning the timing, and keep Burning Blood up to chip him between parries.
Trophy · BronzeBakir

The Mad Khan
Around Level 20 — grind XP firstBakir runs the games in the arena. You'll want to be around Level 20 before his court opens up properly, so bank levels from open-world camps and the other courts first.
- Rebel Hunters
- Payoff Transports
- Distilleries
- Pillories
Enough of his activities triggers “The Lunar Game”, which flows into “The Ring” — his arena fight during the games, where you kill Bakir.
An arena bout with adds and crowd pressure. Use the space: swap to your Vampiric kit at night for burst, feed to top up health mid-fight, and bait Bakir's telegraphed attacks into parries rather than trading blindly.
Trophy · BronzeXanthe

The Dark Mistress
Around Level 25 — the last courtXanthe's court gates highest, around Level 25, so it's usually the last of the three. Her activities skew toward the vampire establishment and the valley's relics.
- Blood Guard Recruiters
- Ancient Digsites
- Abducted Girls transports
- Artifact Transports
- Blood Guard Mentors
- Gargoyle Manufacture
These build to “The Cycle of Love”, where you confront and neutralise Xanthe.
By this point you should have Ultimate-tier perks online. Lean on Vampiric abilities (Shadowstep to reposition, Blood Surge for burst) and keep your directional defence tight — she hits hard, so parry over block.
Trophy · BronzeFighting the courts — the basics
It's directional. Attacks and blocks come from four directions; match the enemy's direction to parry and counter. New players should switch on Omniblock/Omniattack to auto-aim swings and parries.
Two toolkits. By day, control range with Witchcraft hexes (Burning Blood) and swordmastery; by night, transform for Vampiric abilities and claws. Health regenerates at night, and feeding tops you up mid-fight.
Difficulty matters. The on-screen directional prompt disappears on the higher presets — on Story it stays on, so drop the difficulty if a boss is giving you trouble (only Uphill Battle forces a full Duelist run).
Then to the finale. With all three down, skip to the next day for the Edicts cutscene and “A Deal with the Devil.” From there, see our all-endings guide to grab every ending from one save.
