The Review

The pixel Final Fantasy we always wanted

Final Fantasy Resonance is the first Final Fantasy in the HD-2D style: pixel-art characters in detailed, lit 3D worlds, with a camera that swoops in for the big moments. It retells the first season of Brave Exvius as a full console RPG: Rain, Lasswell and Fina's journey across Grandshelt, Olderion, Zoldaad and beyond, with airships, crystals, chocobos and moogles everywhere you look.

The battles are classic turn-based combat with a modern hook. Hit weaknesses to wear down an enemy's stagger gauge, break every enemy in the same turn for a Sweeping Stagger, and a Resonance fires: a cinematic attack or heal from the Vision you've equipped. Visions are the series' heroes (Cloud, Terra, Squall, Lightning, Sephiroth and more) and work like the old job system, so swapping and mastering them is half the fun. The side content is generous: fifteen Cave Masters, a four-league Colosseum, the Chamber of Arms, Gilgamesh and a showdown with Ultima Weapon.

Critics have been warm: 85 on Metacritic for PS5, 9/10 from Game Informer, 9.5 from COGconnected, 8s from IGN and Push Square, and 36/40 from Famitsu. The fair criticism is that it leans on familiar genre beats rather than surprising you. We think it's the best traditional Final Fantasy in years. For trophy hunters it's a 4/10 platinum with no missables and no difficulty trophies, done in one 50–60 hour playthrough.

Platinum Roadmap

The road to Ultimate Fantasy

One playthrough, 50–60 hours, no missables and no online trophies. Casual difficulty is fine, and you can change it whenever you like.

1Play the story (about 40 hours). All eight chapters, picking up Tablet Shards and Sanctum Visions as you go. Swap a Vision as soon as it hits MR 9 and awaken Visions whenever you have Magicite. Route, bosses and collectibles per chapter on our chapter walkthrough.
2Use the mid-game unlocks. Chapter 4: clear the Fledgling Colosseum. Chapter 5: airship, Chamber of Arms, Sephiroth, Ifrit and Shiva, Aileen's Forger of Wills. Chapter 6: the Gaberada radar upgrade. See the gear page.
3Side content after the credits (10–15 hours). Substories first (stat boosts), then the Legendary Arms and Adamantite weapons, then the high-level Cave Masters, the Gladiator League and Mechabo's last upgrades. Everything stays open in free roam.
4Ultima Weapon last (1–5 hours). Ardra Crater, level 60–65+, Reraise and Eternal Veil ready. Then top up the 400 Resonances with the healing-Resonance farm on our Visions page.

Ultimate Fantasy (Platinum)

Details
Earn the other 39 trophies. It's a 4/10 platinum that takes about 50–60 hours in one playthrough, fully offline, with nothing missable and no difficulty trophies (Casual is fine, and you can change difficulty at any time). After the credits you get free roam of the whole world with every quest and collectible still available, so the plan is simply: story, side content, Ultima Weapon last. Tip: Swap a character's Vision as soon as it hits Mastery Rank 9: it's the fastest way to learn abilities, and it banks Vision Connoisseur along the way.
Story, Party & Substories 12 trophies

The twelve progression trophies: all eight chapters, every party member and their substory, the first chocobo and the airship. None of them can be missed, and every substory stays available after the credits.

A Journey Begins trophy

A Journey Begins

Details
Bronze β€” Clear chapter 1. Story trophy for Chapter 1, Tailing the Truth. The route runs Grandshelt Castle → Earth Shrine → Mitra (Leah and Tronn) → the attack on Grandshelt → Kol (chocobo) → Felicitas → Kolobos Ruins → Grandport → Siren's Tower. Bosses: Belmodar (Fire), Hell's Rider (bring Antidote Herbs), a scripted loss to Umbra, The Hunger (Light; it revives once and calls adds) and Siren (Lightning: equip Tronn, cure Charm). Board the ship at Grandport to finish. Tip: Open Oblivion Palace (just south-east of Grandport Harbour) as soon as you can: turning in 3 Tablet Shards there pops Princess's Reward. Full guide →
Those Who Unite the Skies trophy

Those Who Unite the Skies

Bosses: Liquid Thunder (Earth), Mom Bomb (splits into four Great Bombs at low HP), Adrastea (Water or Lightning) and Aether (Ice). Bosses: Wave Lopros (Ice), Water Dragon, Leviathan and Alluvion (all Lightning). Tip: The Rukh and Mindflayer caves are both here at around levels 26–28: good early Cave Masters for Magicite Hunter and the Magicite they drop. Full guide →

Viva la RevoluciΓ³n

Bronze β€” Clear chapter 4. Story trophy for Chapter 4, Banner Oath, in Zoldaad: Mozul Station, the Imperial Capital, the Rebel Hideout (Jake), the lava Weapons Factory and Zoldaad Castle (Dungeon Key from a guard, Throne Room Key from the captain, and you can talk him out of a fight). Bosses: Ignis (a scripted loss, then Water), Emperor Sosa (Water; the Kaiser Sword is left of the throne) and Lazarov with his test subjects aboard the Enterprise (Earth; The Hunger v5 is weak to Light). The Colosseum reopens in Grandshelt this chapter. In the Research Centre Ruins collect the level 1, 2 and 3 key cards (teleporters Right, Left, Right for the optional Fortress Gear) and take the White Jade Stone to the Gaberada elder: Fina learns Holy and clears the miasma. Then the Rugged Mountain Path (hidden Kumobashiri), Duggle, the Gronoa Shrine and the Sanctissimus Shrine's boss gauntlet: Archaroaevis (shifting weakness), Dad Bomb (Fire), Test Rider, Yakhanati, two Arch Gargoyles (kill them together), a Dragon (Lightning) and Gelidus (Fire). The Hero's Blade is in a hidden west passage before the last lift. Tip: Pick up the radar part from the man hidden behind the Gaberada inn: Aileen's crafting, an Adamantite and two Legendary Arms all depend on it. Full guide →
Past Glory trophy

Reizan (the High-Power Generator chest for the Ancient Hammer is on the story path), the Forest Path and the Wandering Lands (Silver Key in the first east dead end of the second screen). You refight the Sworn Six: Aether (Ice), Ignis (Water), Alluvion (Lightning), Tellus (Wind) and Umbra (Light). Bahamut can be challenged from the airship any time this chapter. Tip: Collect your 89th Tablet Shard around Mt. Reizan if you've been thorough: that opens the last Adamantite at Oblivion Palace. Full guide →
Aspiration's End trophy

Aspiration's End

Details
Bronze β€” Clear chapter 8. Story trophy for Chapter 8, Beyond Hope: the Crystal Tower. Grab Laevateinn and a Megalixir up the left staircase, the Ancient Katana at the save point, then cross the invisible bridges (Book of Eibon, a Tablet Shard, the Hastur Long Barrel, the Dragon Whisker and the Faerie Bow are on the side paths). Dark Bahamut is weak to Light or Wind. The final teleporter is the point of no return: the last bosses are a Dark-weak guardian and The Patronizing Pride (Light in phase 1, then check each part's weakness). Load your clear save afterwards for free roam. Tip: Make a manual save before the last boss. You have one autosave slot and ten manual ones. Full guide →
Those Who Defy Fate trophy

Those Who Defy Fate

Details
Bronze β€” Unlock all party members. Unlocked when all eight party members have joined. They're all story recruits, so it can't be missed; the last one joins automatically in Chapter 5. Tip: Characters you don't use still need Adamantite weapons and substories later, so keep everyone's gear reasonable. Full guide →
Conscience Renewed trophy

Conscience Renewed

Details
Bronze β€” Clear all party member substories. Complete all eight party member substories: A New Leaf (Rain), The Twin Titleholders (Lasswell), Shimmering Reflections (Fina), Beyond the Blue (Lid), Nichol's Duty (Nichol), Token Legacy (Jake), Last Respite (Archwitch Fina) and Mysidia, Ever Blooming (Sakura). They're blue-marker sub quests of four or five steps, mostly travel and conversations, with one Adamandelion fight in Lasswell's. Each gives an accessory and a permanent stat bonus; every step is on our story page. Tip: Do the substories before the late Cave Masters: each one rewards its character with a permanent stat boost. Full guide →
Kweh! trophy

Kweh!

Details
Bronze β€” Obtain a chocobo. Story trophy: you get your first chocobo in Chapter 1 when you reach the Village of Kol. If you played the demo and load its save, it pops automatically. Tip: Chocobos skip random encounters on the world map, which is great when you're hunting Tablet Shards. Full guide →
Airship Enterprise trophy

Airship Enterprise

Details
Bronze β€” Obtain an airship. Story trophy at the start of Chapter 5, when you get the airship, the Enterprise. Press Square while flying to go on board: Aileen, Evan and the Moogle of Light all end up on the deck. Tip: Land everywhere once you have it. Most of the optional content (Chamber of Arms, Whirlpool Hollow, Dragon's Maw, Ardra Crater) needs it. Full guide →
Visions, Espers & Combat 9 trophies

Nine trophies built around the battle system: collecting all 26 Visions and all 9 Espers, mastering and awakening Visions, and the two long counters, 1,000 staggers and 400 Resonances.

The First Step Towards Mastery trophy

The First Step Towards Mastery

Details
Bronze β€” Reach max Mastery Rank for a vision for the first time. Raise any Vision to the maximum Mastery Rank (MR 9) on one character. MR rises with MRP, earned from battles, and each rank gives stat boosts and abilities. It's slow at first and much faster later on. Tip: MR is tracked per character: Cloud at MR 9 on Rain starts again at MR 0 if you move him to Lasswell. Plan who keeps which Vision. Full guide →
Awakened Light trophy

Awakened Light

Details
Bronze β€” Awaken a vision to its limit for the first time. Awaken one Vision to 3 stars. Visit a Moogle of Light (almost every town, and on the airship) and upgrade in order: 1 star costs a Magicite Shard, 2 stars a Magicite, 3 stars a Magicite Cryst. Crysts first appear in Chapter 5. Tip: Magicite comes from chests, Cave Masters, sub quests and some Colosseum fights, and the Colosseum sells every type late in the game. There's enough to awaken every Vision, so spend it as you get it. Full guide →
Visions Assemble trophy

Visions Assemble

Details
Silver β€” Obtain 10 visions. Own 10 Visions. You'll have this by around Chapter 3: two come with the story in Chapter 1 and the rest are shrine Visions you collect along the way. Tip: Every shrine works the same way: go into the Sanctum, touch the crystal and answer three questions about that Vision's game. Wrong answers don't matter. Full guide →
Will Crystallized trophy

Will Crystallized

Details
Gold β€” Obtain all visions. Collect all 26 Visions: 16 Sanctums, Leah and Tronn from the story, Sephiroth from a fight in Whirlpool Hollow (level 45, 250,000 HP), and 7 from sub quests. None are missable, and every one is listed with its location on our Visions page. Tip: The sub quest Visions (Camille, Wilhelm, Aileen, Victoria, Amelia, Charlotte, Ayaka) are the ones people miss: check every town's quest givers from Chapter 5 on. Full guide →
Vision Connoisseur trophy

Vision Connoisseur

Details
Silver β€” Reach max MR with 8 visions. Get 8 different Visions to MR 9. It comes naturally during the story if you rotate: whenever a Vision reaches MR 9, swap it for one you haven't mastered yet. Tip: Awakening stars are shared across the party, MR isn't. A Vision mastered on one character counts once. Full guide →
Esper's Covenant trophy

Esper's Covenant

Details
Bronze β€” Gain help from 3 espers. Have 3 Espers join. Siren comes with the story in Chapter 1, Ramuh is on Mt. Thunderclap in Chapter 2, and Carbuncle's riddle in Ruby Cave opens in Chapter 3. Tip: Carbuncle is the only Esper without a fight: just collect the three Ruby Fragments in order. Full guide →
The Sovereigns of the Planet trophy

The Sovereigns of the Planet

Details
Silver β€” Gain help from all espers. Get all 9 Espers: Siren, Ramuh, Carbuncle, Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Odin and Bahamut. Fina (and Archwitch Fina) summon them. Every step is on our Espers list; Bahamut needs the other eight first and is challenged from the airship in Chapter 7. Tip: Grab them as you go: Espers are a big help in the mid-game and matter less in the endgame. Full guide →
Keep Them on Their Toes trophy

Keep Them on Their Toes

Details
Silver β€” Stagger enemies 1000 times. Stagger enemies 1,000 times. The yellow bar under an enemy's HP is its stagger gauge: hit weaknesses or use stagger-focused skills (the ones with a bullet mark) to empty it. It pops on its own, usually around Chapter 4. Tip: Players report the counter can break if you continue from a demo save, so if it's suspiciously late, start fresh. Full guide →
Resonance Rapid Fire trophy

Resonance Rapid Fire

Details
Gold β€” Use Resonances 400 times. Use 400 Resonances. Stagger every enemy in the same turn for a Sweeping Stagger; at the end of the bonus turn a character with a Vision performs a Resonance (an attack, heal or buff). The story gives most of these, the rest is a short grind. Tip: Fast farm: equip a Vision with a healing Resonance (Leah or Ayaka), leave one easy-to-stagger enemy alive, stagger it, heal it with the Resonance so it doesn't die, Defend through the other turns, repeat. Full guide →
Legendary Arms, Adamantite & Tablet Shards 8 trophies

Eight trophies about gear and money: Aileen's eight Adamantite weapons, the twelve Legendary Arms of the Chamber of Arms, the Enigmatic Princess's Tablet Shard rewards at Oblivion Palace, and spending and earning gil.

Hand in 3 Tablet Shards to the Enigmatic Princess at Oblivion Palace (Kingdom of Grandshelt, just south-east of Grandport Harbour, open from Chapter 1) and open the first reward chest. Tip: Tablet Shards are sparkles on the world map and in dungeons. Pick them up as you go; there are 99 and you need 89. Full guide →
Memento trophy

Memento

Details
Bronze β€” Help the enigmatic princess regain her second memory. Turn in 60 Tablet Shards to the Enigmatic Princess and she recovers her second memory. You don't have to open the chests in her treasure rooms to trigger it. Tip: Keep going past 60: 76 shards give the Ancient Firearm, 80 an Adamantite, 84 the Ancient Whip and 89 the last Adamantite. Full guide →
Gil Comes and Goes trophy

Gil Comes and Goes

Details
Bronze β€” Spend a total of 100,000 gil. Spend 100,000 gil in total at weapon, armour, item and accessory shops. Buying new gear in each town gets you there naturally. Tip: Shortcut: when you're holding 100,000 gil, make a manual save, spend it all, and reload. Full guide →
Making Lid Proud trophy

Making Lid Proud

Details
Bronze β€” Gain a total of 1,000,000 gil. Earn 1,000,000 gil in total. It's cumulative, so you never need a million at once, and battles plus treasure get you most of the way. Tip: Fastest top-ups: King Gil Snappers on the Dragon's Maw island, Vaan's Double Gil ability at MR 9, or save, sell everything, and reload. Full guide →
The Weapon that Suits the User trophy

The Weapon that Suits the User

Details
Bronze β€” Have Aileen craft a weapon for the first time. Have Aileen craft her first weapon. Recruit her with the sub quest Forger of Wills in Dilmagia, the Machinopolis (from the gossiping girl near the entrance), then give her one Adamantite on the airship deck. Tip: Your first Adamantite is the Colosseum's Fledgling Battle 2, open from Chapter 4. Full guide →
The Weaponsmith trophy

The Weaponsmith

Details
Silver β€” Have Aileen craft weapons for all party members. Have Aileen craft a weapon for all 8 party members, one Adamantite each. All eight Adamantite are listed on our gear page: three from the Colosseum, two from Oblivion Palace, one from a Merchant Ship, one with the treasure radar and one in the Rugged Mountain Path. Tip: These are some of the best weapons in the game, usually better than the Legendary Arms, so craft them before the late Cave Masters and Ultima Weapon. Full guide →
Ancient Artifact trophy

Ancient Artifact

Details
Bronze β€” Obtain one of the Twelve Legendary Arms for the first time. Obtain your first Legendary Arm. Find one of the 'Ancient' items, take it to its glowing pedestal in the Chamber of Arms and win the two-stage level 50 trial. The easiest first one is the Ancient Greatsword from the Colosseum's Fledgling Battle 3. Tip: The Chamber is in the mountains at Dirnado's north-west tip, north-west of the Mobliz Shipyard; land there with the airship. Full guide →
Legendary Arms trophy

Legendary Arms

Details
Silver β€” Obtain all Twelve Legendary Arms. Complete all 12 trials in the Chamber of Arms. Each Arm starts as an 'Ancient' item you find somewhere in the world (two from Oblivion Palace, two from the Colosseum, two from Merchant Traders, two with the treasure radar and four from chests and NPCs). The full list with every trial enemy is on our gear page. Tip: Three can't appear before Chapter 8 (Cloak, Tome, Katana) and the Hammer needs the Mt. Reizan generator from Chapter 7, so don't hunt for them early. Full guide →
Cave Masters, Colosseum & Ultima Weapon 10 trophies

Details
Silver β€” Clear all Gladiator League fights in the Colosseum. Win all five Gladiator League fights (the purple table, third from the left). Leave it for the late game, with Adamantite weapons and awakened Visions. The fourth league isn't needed for any trophy. Tip: Reader reports say a few players got only two of the Colosseum's three Adamantite; keep a manual save before each Adamantite fight and check your inventory after. Full guide →

Full guide →
Priceless Experience trophy

Details
Bronze β€” Defeat a Metal Gigantuar for the first time. Defeat a Metal Gigantuar, which also appears on the Dragon's Maw island. It has only a handful of HP (single digits to the low teens, depending on difficulty) but extreme evasion and resistances, and it runs away after a few turns. FAQ

Final Fantasy Resonance platinum β€” quick answers

How long does the Final Fantasy Resonance platinum take?
About 50–60 hours: roughly 40 for the story with some side content along the way, 10–15 for the post-game cleanup, and a few hours for Ultima Weapon and any leftover Resonances.
Is the Final Fantasy Resonance platinum hard?
We'd call it 4/10. No trophy depends on difficulty, so Casual is fine, but you still need to exploit weaknesses and build your party properly. The real test is Ultima Weapon (level 70, 3.9 million HP); our strategy makes it a war of attrition rather than a damage race.
Are there missable trophies in Final Fantasy Resonance?
No. After the credits you get full free roam: every sub quest, Vision, Esper, Cave Master, Tablet Shard and Legendary Arm stays available. There's no New Game+, and one playthrough is enough.
Does difficulty affect trophies?
No. Every trophy can be earned on Casual, and you can change difficulty at any time. Expert gives 1.5× MRP, which some players switch to while levelling Visions.
How many Tablet Shards do you need?
89 of the 99. 3 give Princess's Reward, 60 give Memento, and 89 opens the last Adamantite. All 99 are listed on our shard page.
Where is Ultima Weapon?
In Ardra Crater in the south-east of the world map, after the credits. Load your clear save and an airship scene points you there. Full strategy on our bosses page.
Do demo trophies carry over?
Loading the demo save into the full game makes the demo's trophies (like Kweh! and the first Cave Master) pop and lets you continue. Some players suspect it can break the stagger or Resonance counters, so if they seem stuck, a fresh start is safer.
