Two great Sonics, one easy platinum

Sonic X Shadow Generations pairs a crisp remaster of 2011's fan-favourite Sonic Generations with an all-new Shadow Generations campaign — and the new half is so good it nearly steals the show. Two tight, replayable platformers in one package, and a platinum that's pure fun the whole way.

Sonic Generations is still a joyous celebration of the series — Classic and Modern Sonic blasting through remixed nostalgia at 60fps. But it's Shadow Generations that makes this compilation essential: a punchy 3–4 hour campaign with new powers (Chaos Control, Doom abilities), gorgeous reimagined stages, and the best boss fights Sonic Team has produced in years. It's the rare bonus mode that outshines the main course.

The platinum

Both games are short, generous with checkpoints, and endlessly re-runnable, which makes for a wonderfully low-stress list. Most trophies come just from playing — clearing stages, beating bosses and restoring the stage gates. The only real effort is the completionist skill layer: S-Ranking every Act, clearing all the Challenge Acts, and two no-damage final boss clears. None of it is brutal, and generous rank thresholds plus rewind-free retries keep it fair.

If you grew up with Sonic — or just want a breezy, feel-good platinum between bigger games — this is one of the most enjoyable ~13-hour plats on PS Plus Extra. Shadow Generations alone is worth the download.

★ A fun, low-stress platinum — nothing is missable. Both games let you replay any Act freely and select stages at will, so you can clean up collectibles, S-Ranks and challenges whenever you like. The only trophies that ask for skill are the S-Ranks, the Challenge Acts, and the two no-damage final bosses — all very doable with a couple of practice runs.

Step-by-Step Roadmap

Step 1

Play both campaigns

Clear Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations end to end. Restoring each Stage Gate, beating every boss and finishing both games pops a big chunk of the list — including both "All Stages Cleared!" silvers.

Step 2

Sweep the collectibles

Grab every Red Star Ring, rescue all Chao, collect the Chaos Emeralds, open every Collection Box in White Space and deliver the rocket parts. That clears both "(Hedge)Hogging It All Up!" silvers and the collectible trophies.

Step 3

Clear the Challenge Acts

Work through every Challenge Act in both games for Sonic Generations: Mission Accomplished! and Shadow Generations: Mission Accomplished! — two of the four golds.

Step 4

S-Rank everything → platinum

Earn Rank S on all Acts in both games (Big Bang & Ultimate Life Form) and beat both final bosses without taking damage (Can't Touch This & Untouchable). The last one flips All Trophies Collected! — the platinum.
