Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Asobo's Plague Tale goes sword-first. A prequel starring Sophia on the Island of the Minotaur โ our review, the roadmap, and all 37 trophies explained.
The Review
A Plague Tale with a sword in each hand
Asobo takes its acclaimed series somewhere new with Resonance, a prequel set 15 years before Amicia and Hugo's story. You play Sophia โ the sharp-tongued plunderer from A Plague Tale: Requiem โ washed up on the mysterious Island of the Minotaur, hunting the origins of the Macula. It's the most combat-forward the series has ever been: Sophia dual-wields swords, chains parries and flurries, and takes on many foes at once, a real shift from Amicia's stealth-and-sling survival.
The Plague Tale DNA is still here, though. There are light-and-dark puzzles built around a stolen Minoan sphere, environmental traversal, and the series' signature swarm-of-horror set-pieces โ this time reworked around petrified enemies you shatter with light and a relentless creature that chases you through the dark. It's a tighter, ~20-hour adventure across 13 chapters, and gorgeous in that grim, painterly Asobo way.
As a platinum it's one of the friendlier ones โ no difficulty trophies, no online, and a completion rate that's already high. You'll finish the story, tick off a set of combat challenges (parries, Focus attacks, throwables, creature escapes), and collect four sets โ Relics, Blades, Charms and Theseus' Echoes. Grab collectibles as you go, then use chapter select to mop up anything missed.
What we loved
- Bold, satisfying dual-sword combat
- Classic Asobo atmosphere and puzzle design
- Sophia is a great lead โ sharper and deadlier than Amicia
- A friendly, mostly-relaxed platinum
What frustrated us
- The combat-feat trophies need a little deliberate setup
- Collectibles are easy to walk past on a first run
- Shorter than the mainline games
- Creature-chase trophies can be nerve-wracking
Platinum Roadmap
The road to The Sea Scorpion
There's no difficulty requirement, so play on whatever setting you enjoy. Do one story run grabbing collectibles and knocking out combat feats as they come up, then chapter-select to clean up anything left.
1Playthrough 1 โ the story, collecting as you go. Play through all 13 chapters and pick up every Relic, Blade, Charm, Theseus' Echo โ and crucially every Resonance Point โ you spot. The four sets are recoverable later, but Resonance Points are not, so grab those diligently now (aim for all 165). Work the combat challenges into normal fights as they come up.
2Knock out the combat & creature feats. Deliberately set up the trickier ones โ a 6-parry streak, 4 kills in one Focus attack, luring 20 Petrified at once, escaping the creature by jumping gaps 25 times. Most can be farmed at a convenient encounter and retried freely.
3Collectible cleanup via chapter select. After the credits, use chapter select to return to any chapter and mop up missed Relics, Blades, Charms and Theseus' Echoes โ all four sets are recoverable here. (Like a warrior's Resonance Points are the exception โ see the warning above โ so those need to be done on the main run.)
4Cleanup โ Platinum. Tidy the last few feats and hidden interactions, and The Sea Scorpion pops with the final trophy.
The one real missable: Resonance Points. The four collectible sets (37 Relics, 8 Blades, 30 Charms, 5 Theseus' Echoes) are all recoverable via chapter select โ but Resonance Points are not. You need 165 for the six mastery branches (Like a warrior), they only bank at checkpoints, and they don't carry over in chapter select. Gather them diligently on your main playthrough so you clear 165 before the credits.

Collectibles & Mastery 5 trophies
There are 275 collectibles in total across the 13 chapters. Four sets are not missable โ chapter select lets you recover any you skip. The mastery trophy is the exception, and it's the one to plan around (see below).

Hoarder
Details
Collect all 37 Relics (Artefacts) โ the 'Relics of the Present and the Past', hidden pickups spread through the chapters. Not missable: sweep each area and use chapter select to grab any you missed.

Plunderer
Details
Collect all 8 Blades from the Heroes' Graves (a 9th comes with the pre-order DLC). Each is a special weapon found at a grave site during the chapters โ recoverable via chapter select.

Superstitious
Details
Collect all 30 Charms โ trinkets tucked around the island's chapters. Not missable; chapter select works.

In the name of my kin
Details
Find all 5 Theseus' Echoes โ special 'Pierced Coins' you obtain by interacting with the Axe Chalices. Recoverable via chapter select.

Like a warrior
MissableDetails
Unlock all 6 mastery branches โ this needs 165 Resonance Points, and it's the platinum's one real trap. Resonance Points are missable: they do not carry over in chapter select, only bank at checkpoints (dying makes you re-grab them), and have no chapter-select tracker. There are ~200 in the game (a 35-point buffer), so collect them diligently on your main playthrough โ don't leave this to cleanup.
Combat & Skill 11 trophies
Fighting feats. Most happen in normal combat once you're aiming for them; set up the trickier ones at a convenient encounter and retry freely.

Returning the favor
Details
Kill an Archer with a throwing knife โ spot a ranged enemy and finish them with a thrown blade rather than closing in.

Cannon fodder
Details
Lure a Brute into killing a soldier while it's in a rage โ enrage a heavy enemy and position a regular soldier so the Brute strikes them instead of you.

Inherited brutality
MissableDetails
Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with a Focus attack โ build Focus, group four foes close together, and unleash the area Focus finisher.

Untouchable
Details
Parry 6 attacks in a row without being hit โ pick a fight with multiple melee enemies and time consecutive parries.

Excessive force
Details
Break free from a Corrupted's grab with a Focus attack โ when a Corrupted grabs you, escape using the Focus break rather than a normal struggle.

Adaptable
Details
Kill at least one enemy with each blade โ cycle through every sword you've unlocked and get a kill with each.

No holds barred
Details
Stun 20 enemies with throwables โ a cumulative count; use your thrown items on groups across the game.

Overboard
Details
Kill 20 enemies by pushing them down a drop โ fight near ledges and shove foes off; cumulative across the game.

FAQ
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy platinum โ quick answers
Is Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy hard to platinum?
No โ it's one of the friendlier platinums, around 4/10. There are no difficulty trophies and nothing online; it's story completion, some combat challenges, and four collectible sets. The combat feats just need a little deliberate setup.
How long does the platinum take?
Roughly 20โ25 hours. The story is about 20 hours across 13 chapters, plus a little collectible cleanup via chapter select.
Can I clean up collectibles after the story?
Mostly. Chapter select lets you revisit any chapter to grab missed Relics, Blades, Charms and Theseus' Echoes. The one exception is Resonance Points (for the mastery-branch trophy) โ those are missable and don't carry over in chapter select, so you must gather 165 of them on your main playthrough.
How many collectibles are there?
275 in total across the 13 chapters: 37 Relics, 8 Blades (9 with the pre-order DLC), 30 Charms, and 5 Theseus' Echoes โ plus Resonance Points for the skill tree. Grab everything as you go; all four sets are recoverable via chapter select.
What's the one trophy to watch out for?
Like a warrior. It needs 165 Resonance Points to open the six mastery branches, and Resonance Points are missable โ they only bank at checkpoints and don't carry over in chapter select. Collect them diligently on your main run. Beyond that, the combat feats (a 6-parry streak, 4 kills in one Focus attack) just take a little practice and can be retried freely.
