Marvel's Wolverine
Insomniac finally lets Logan off the leash. Our review, the quick 2/10 platinum roadmap, and all 42 trophies explained in depth — plus every collectible location.
The Review
The Wolverine game we've waited 20 years for
Insomniac earned a lot of trust with Spider-Man, and Marvel's Wolverine spends it well. This is a brutal, R-rated brawler that finally makes the claws feel like adamantium — every lunge, impale and Berserker Rage lands with weight, and the healing factor turns a bad fight into a war of attrition you claw your way out of rather than a game-over screen.
The globe-trotting story is the real surprise. It runs from the snows of Canada to the neon of Madripoor and Tokyo, drags in a murderers' row of villains — Omega Red, Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, The Hand and Mister Sinister — and threads Logan's fractured memories through Nightmare trials that double as the game's combat sandbox. It's violent, but it's got heart: the “Walter” thread and Logan's hunt for his own past give the carnage a point.
Combat is the star — a tight parry-and-punish core, Rage tiers that escalate into full Berserker meltdowns, environmental impales and a nasty stealth kit. It's held back from greatness by a short campaign and a platinum with little to do beyond a collectible sweep, but make no mistake: this is a great time, and the sleazy review-bomb scores don't reflect it.
What we loved
- The claws finally feel lethal — Insomniac's best melee combat
- Healing factor makes every brawl a comeback story
- A proper R-rated Wolverine story with real villains
- Nightmare trials add a fun combat playground
- An easy, low-stress, no-missables platinum
What held it back
- Short campaign — completionists will want more
- The platinum is mostly a collectible sweep (102 items)
- Some feats need mission replay to mop up
- Boss variety tails off late
Platinum Roadmap
The road to “I'm The Best There Is…”
One of the most relaxed platinums of the year — a 2/10 with no difficulty trophies, no online and nothing missable. Insomniac confirmed everything can be cleaned up after the story via mission replay in the Nightmare Cabin, so enjoy the ride first.
1Play the story and enjoy it. Every mission and boss is a trophy, so the campaign banks the whole Story & Bosses block. Grab collectibles you spot, and do the in-the-moment feats (Shish Kebab, Recycled, Saturn Slam, Harmer's Market, Ground Control) when their mission comes up — but don't stress a miss.
2Do the Nightmare Trials as you go. Discover all 14 Nightmare Doors (purple roots), earn a bronze in each, and grab one Adamantium rating (play “The Man” difficulty to make it trivial). This also levels Adaptation.
3Sweep collectibles after the credits. Use mission replay for all 68 Material Crates and 20 Whisky Bottles (turn on the Collectibles shader). Crates let you craft 20 suits (Adamantium Armory), whisky + trials push Adaptation to 10, and combat/cache XP takes you to Level 36.
4Mop up feats & the 15th trial → Platinum. Finish the cumulative kills (parry 500, 100 Helix, 75 Tornado), clear the secret 15th Nightmare Trial (Repressed Memories), and the last trophy pops I'm The Best There Is…
Zero missable trophies. Mission Select unlocks at the Nightmare Cabin the moment you find the second Nightmare Door early in the story, so anything skipped can be replayed. Play freely.
Collectible Guides
Full location guides
The only real hunt in the platinum is the 102 collectibles. Our guide maps the exact spot for every one, mission by mission.
Every Trophy
All 42 trophies — explained in depth
Grouped by type, each with its real in-game icon, verified grade, and exactly how to unlock it — where, when, and the tips that matter.
Platinum

I'm The Best There Is…
Details
Earn all 41 other trophies. Nothing is difficulty- or online-locked: play the story (which banks 17 trophies and most combat feats on its own), do the Nightmare Trials as their doors appear, then use post-credits mission replay to sweep the 102 collectibles and finish the cumulative feats. The last trophy you earn — usually a final collectible or Adamantium Armory — pops the platinum. Budget 15–20 hours.
Story & Bosses 17 trophies
Every named story mission and boss awards a trophy, and none are missable — finishing the campaign banks this whole block. The bosses (Omega Red, the Sentinel, Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, Mister Sinister) are all story-mandatory with no rating requirement, so if any wall you, drop to the “The Man” difficulty, where Logan can't die.

Hot Head
Details
Unmissable in the tutorial mission A Debt Repaid. Rage is Wolverine's momentum meter — it climbs as you land strikes and as you take hits (his healing factor lets you trade freely). The mission walks you up through the Rage tiers and the scripted fight pushes you to Tier 3, popping this automatically. Play aggressively rather than defensively and it comes early.

Omega Dead
Details
Story boss at the end of Last Meal — your first proper duel, against the carbonadium-armed Soviet super-soldier Omega Red. Stay mobile to avoid his reaching tendril grabs, punish the recovery after his big lunges, and out-last him with your healing factor. It's purely story-gated with no rating requirement, so if he walls you, restart the encounter on the “The Man” difficulty (Logan is effectively invulnerable) and finish it. Unmissable.

Road Rage
Details
Unmissable — it caps off the high-speed Canada Highway Chase in The One That Got Away, a scripted vehicular set-piece; just survive it. This is a big mission for cleanup, too: it hides the Greased journal and the second Nightmare Door that unlocks Mission Select.

Hell Raisers
Details
Unmissable — pops when you blow the Reaver refinery at the climax of Raise Some Hell. While you're inside that refinery, grab Recycled by kicking a Reaver into the molten-metal vat, so you clear both in one pass.

Berserker Unleashed
Details
Unmissable in Something Much Stronger. Berserker Rage is the game's ultimate “see red” state; the story hands you your first full charge here and simply triggering it pops the trophy — a scripted beat, no setup or timing needed.

Kicked the Bucket
Details
Story boss in Mutant Detected — you take down a prototype Sentinel (Trask's mutant-hunting robot). Dodge its heavy sweeps and ranged volleys, then hit the joints/weak points it exposes right after a big attack. Story-gated only, so drop to “The Man” if its damage is punishing.

A Firm Handshake
Details
Unmissable story beat — you're introduced to The Hand (the ninja cult) during One Last Mission as the Madripoor/Tokyo arc opens. Nothing to do but play through it.

Crash Course
Details
Unmissable — survive the mid-air plane disaster in Jetlag. This is also the mission for Ground Control, so knock three enemies out through the fuselage holes during the on-board fight while you're here.

Careful What You Wish For
Details
Unmissable — a story beat in In the Shadows where you save “Walter.” Same mission as the That's Cheating claw-machine easter egg, so grab that too while you're in the arcade.

Struck Dead
Details
Story boss: Lady Deathstrike in Death's Match — a mirror duel with adamantium claws, fast flurries and lunges. Parry her blue-flash attacks to open her up and counter, healing through the chip damage. Story-gated, so “The Man” difficulty trivialises it. (Pure boss stage — no collectibles here.)

The Monster In Me
Details
Unmissable — survive the Helix Engine sequence in Death Comes to Death, the mission where you also unlock the Helix Claws ability that Cut Just As Deep counts.

Undercover
Details
Unmissable — at the start of Roll The Dice, Logan slips into his classic disguise as “Patch,” the eyepatch alias he uses in Madripoor. Pops as the mission begins.

A Previous Life
Details
Unmissable story revelation — Logan uncovers the truth about his past in Don't Go Gentle.

Had To Put Him Down
Details
Story boss: Sabretooth in Red Right Hand — the big grudge match, staged in a Madripoor market. Two-for-one: while you brawl, slash every destructible vendor stall to also bag Harmer's Market. Parry-and-punish his heavy swings; “The Man” is there if you're stuck. Story-gated.

Small Mercies
Details
Unmissable — you set Walter free during This Was The Dream.

A Sinister End
Details
Final boss: Mister Sinister (Nathaniel Essex, the geneticist behind it all) in the closing mission No Coming Back. Story-gated with no special requirement — play it out, or lower to “The Man” for a guaranteed clear.

One More Story
Details
Complete the campaign — pops on finishing No Coming Back. You'll roll credits around Player Level 34–36, and afterwards the Nightmare Cabin unlocks full mission replay, so every collectible, feat and the secret trial can be cleaned up post-game with nothing lost.
Progression & Crafting 4 trophies
Levels, suits and adaptation — all driven by the same collectibles you're already grabbing, so they fall out of a completionist run.

Ultimate Predator
Details
Reach Player Level 36. XP comes mainly from combat, plus every XP Cache you smash, so a normal story run that grabs collectibles usually finishes around Level 34–36 — you'll be at or near it by the credits. If you're a level or two short, load any combat-heavy mission from the bed in the Nightmare Cabin; enemy kills close the gap fast.

Suit Up
Details
Unmissable — you craft your first suit during the crafting tutorial in the Canada section (Homecoming). The game walks you through it.

Adamantium Armory
Details
Craft 20 standard suits — enough to fully upgrade your Health. Suits cost materials from the 68 Material Crates, so this is the payoff for the crate hunt: finish collecting, open the Suits menu (Touchpad), and craft all 20. Deluxe/DLC suits do NOT count toward the tracker — build the standard ones.

Secondary Mutations
Details
Reach Adaptation Level 10. Adaptation unlocks after the first Nightmare Gate in Homecoming and levels up two ways — clearing Nightmare Gates and collecting Whisky Bottles. You don't need 100%: about 73.5% is enough, roughly 15 of the 20 bottles plus your Nightmare Door clears. Track it on the Adaptation menu (Touchpad).
Collectibles 5 trophies
102 collectibles: 68 Material Crates, 20 Whisky Bottles and 14 Nightmare Doors. Nothing is missable — the Nightmare Cabin unlocks mission replay early, so clean up after the credits. Our locations guide gives the exact spot for each.

Crate Collector
Details
Collect all
68 Material Crates — they're the crafting materials behind
Adamantium Armory, so this and the suit gold go hand in hand. Turn on
Settings → Visuals → Collectibles & Interacts Shader to light them up and follow Logan's scent cues. →
full crate locations.

But a Dram
Details
Pops when you pick up your first Whisky Bottle — the earliest is in Logan's bedroom during Homecoming. Quick and unmissable.

Full Barrel
Details
Collect all
20 Whisky Bottles. Beyond the trophy, each bottle raises your
Adaptation, feeding
Secondary Mutations — so the whisky and Nightmare Door hunts together get you to Adaptation 10. →
full whisky locations.

Waking Nightmare
Details
Discover a Nightmare Door “in the wild.” You'll hit the second door naturally in The One That Got Away — that's the one that unlocks Mission Select at the Nightmare Cabin, so this trophy doubles as your gateway to post-game cleanup.

Pathways of the Mind
Details
Discover all
14 Nightmare Doors. Most are effectively story-automatic — watch for the
purple roots on the ground that lead to them. Finding and clearing all 14 also spawns the hidden 15th trial for
Repressed Memories. →
full door locations.
Nightmare Trials 2 trophies
The score-attack combat trials behind the Nightmare Doors. Ratings are forgiving (play “The Man” for an easy Adamantium), and clearing all 14 opens the secret 15th.

Adamantium Dreams
Details
Earn an Adamantium (top) rating on any single Nightmare Trial — you only need it once. The bar is generous, and on the “The Man” difficulty you can't die, which makes even a first attempt at an easy trial a guaranteed Adamantium. Pick whichever trial you're most comfortable with.

Repressed Memories
Details
The platinum's one “secret.” After you've found all 14 Nightmare Doors and earned at least a bronze rating in each, a hidden 15th trial (“Best There Is”) appears as the bottom-right figurine on the Nightmare Cabin shelf. Clear it (bronze is enough — play “The Man” to be safe), then step outside the Cabin and follow the scent trail to unlock the memory and the trophy. Post-game only.
Combat & Feats 10 trophies
Skill and milestone kills. The cumulative ones (parries, Helix/Tornado kills, XP caches) tick up on their own; the one-off set-pieces (Saturn Slam, Recycled, Harmer's Market, Ground Control, Shish Kebab) are pinned below with exactly where to do them.

Ground Control
Details
In Jetlag, after you're thrown out of the plane and climb back in, you fight enemies inside the breaking fuselage. Near the tears in the hull, hit enemies toward the gaps — the wind suction pulls them out. You need 3; it's almost unmissable given how the fight is staged, but line them up by the holes to be sure.

Cut Just As Deep
Details
Kill 100 enemies with the Helix Claws — the R1 energy-blast unlocked at the end of Death Comes to Death (short cooldown, shown bottom-right). It only counts as the killing blow, so use it to finish grouped enemies. Cumulative across the back half of the game; top up leftovers in Nightmare Trials or replays.

Cache Crusher
Details
Destroy 100 XP Caches — the small canister objects along mission paths (there are far more than 100, and smashing them also feeds Ultimate Predator). Turn on the Collectibles & Interacts Shader to spot them at a glance; anything missed is farmable via replay.

Parry Perfected
Details
Parry 500 times — tap parry (L1) as an attack flashes blue. It's cumulative across the whole game and parrying is central to combat, so most of it comes naturally; if you're short at the end, the endless enemies in Nightmare Trials are a fast top-up.

Saturn Slam
Details
A one-off kill in We Were Wrong. Shortly after the start you climb into a building with model planets hanging from the ceiling. Stealth-kill the guard on the left, then attack the rope holding the Saturn model — it drops and crushes the Hand enemies beneath it. Replay the mission if you miss it.

Spiral Cut
Details
Kill 75 enemies with Tornado Spin — the spin attack from the Prologue (L2 + Square, short cooldown). It shreds groups, so use it liberally and you'll usually pass 75 around the story's midpoint; farmable afterward.

Blindsided
Details
Stealth-kill 10 enemies while Jean has them blinded. Her blind comes online late in We Were Wrong (press R1 for Jean to blind a group, then Square on a dazed enemy for the takedown). The cleanest farm is the very first forest encounters at the start of Hell Followed With Him — blind, take down, reload the checkpoint, repeat to 10.

Harmer's Market
Details
During the Sabretooth fight in Red Right Hand, the arena is a market — slash every destructible vendor stall as you fight (Had To Put Him Down pops from the fight itself, so you get both). Miss one? Replay the mission.

Shish Kebab
Details
Kick an enemy (hold Square) onto a sharp environmental hazard to impale them. Easiest setup is early, in The One That Got Away: after a zipline you meet two enemies beside a forklift — kick one onto the forks. Similar hazards recur if you miss it.

Recycled
Details
In Raise Some Hell, work through the refinery and crouch through the vent into the room with a large open vat of molten metal at the back. Kick a Reaver (blue-bladed, shielded enemy) into the vat to “defeat” it — the same room on your route to blowing the refinery (Hell Raisers).
Secrets & Easter Eggs 3 trophies
Three optional bits of Insomniac mischief tucked into specific missions.

That's Cheating
Details
In In the Shadows you pass through an arcade. Interact with the machine at the back to open a hidden room and investigate the objects there, which starts a fight — then smash all the claw machines (melee destroys them) to “free” the stuffed animals inside.

Poseidon's Kiss
Details
A pure gag in Get Angry. Inside the Sleepy Kiss bar (a story stop), head downstairs into the bathroom and interact with the face on the wall — it swings the toilet into a novelty “kissing” toilet, music plays, and the trophy pops a few seconds later.

Greased
Details
In The One That Got Away, at the far end of the industrial park you'll find boarded “Do Not Enter” panels. Claw through them and read Callisto's diary on the table inside. A Material Crate and a Whisky Bottle share this room, so grab all three at once.
FAQ
Marvel's Wolverine platinum — quick answers
Is Marvel's Wolverine hard to platinum?
No — a very easy 2/10. No difficulty trophies, no online, nothing missable. Bosses are story-mandatory with no special conditions, and you can even drop to the “The Man” difficulty (Logan can't die). The only work is finishing the story and sweeping 102 collectibles.
How long does the platinum take?
About 15–20 hours — a story completion plus a collectible cleanup pass.
Are there any missable trophies?
None. Mission Select unlocks at the Nightmare Cabin once you find the second Nightmare Door early on, so any mission, collectible or feat can be replayed after the story.
What are the collectibles?
102 total:
68 Material Crates (fully upgrade suits),
20 Whisky Bottles (feed Adaptation) and
14 Nightmare Doors (unlock a secret 15th trial). Our
collectible locations guide gives the exact spot for each.
What's the grindiest trophy?
Nothing is really a grind. The longest are Parry 500 times, Player Level 36 and 100 Helix Claw kills — all of which tick up naturally during the story and collectible sweep, and can be topped up in the Nightmare Trials.
