Endings & Speedrun

The three endings, the 100% trophy, the speedrun and two small leftovers. Nothing here is missable: the game lets you keep playing after every ending.

One save does everything. Players who have finished the game confirm you can keep playing after every ending, and there's no New Game+. So: bad ending when you first reach the clock, normal ending, then true ending, all on your 100% file. The only extra run is the speedrun.

True ending: the four virtue trials

Go to the Gallery of the Four Virtues in Notre-Dame. Each stained-glass window opens only with its matching card equipped; press Interact at the window and ring the bell at the end of the trial.

VirtueEquipTo get the cardThe trial
CourageThe Warrior (Infernal Pyre)Beat JoanA rematch with Joan of Arc in the Courage of Gabriel. Same moves as before plus a longer dash, and she gets back up once, so keep your guard up until she's truly down.
PrudenceThe Sage (Mirror Walk)Free Queen Eleanor from the chained mirror (Hall of Mirrors clues), then meet her in the Mausoleum of the QueensA climbing trial with moving saws, falling rubble and spikes. Ring the bell at the top.
JusticeThe Judge (Chains of Justice)Balance the Scales of JusticeClimb the bell tower past enemies and hazards and ring the bell at the summit.
TemperanceThe Whisperer (Freezing Path)Return the Ferryman's Obol from Mammon's LairA water trial: freeze your way across and strike the final bell.

With all four bells rung, interact with the altar under the rose window and beat the cloaked "???" (your Doppelganger) for The Self and Absolution (Shadow Work). Talk to Sypha's spirit at the altar, then go through the Sanctuary of Solitude gate, the Grand Staircase and the Throne Room Antechamber. Equip Absolution and keep it equipped until Dracula's second form falls on the Castle Rooftops.

The speedrun

Start a new save; there's no New Game+, and no carry-over. Open the Custom Menu and raise your attack and lower the damage normal enemies deal: it doesn't affect trophies. Follow the boss keys and skip every optional boss, clue and collectible. You still need The Shadow's Soul Harvest at the clock to reach Isaac. Finish with the normal ending in under 4 hours for Dialog Skipper. Players who know the castle report under three hours.

Finish the game and get the bad ending

TypeSilver
MissableNo

How to earn it

Get the bad ending. On the Clock Tower Bridge there's a glowing clock: use it without Soul Harvest equipped and Death springs his trap. Rose is led into a false throne room, the fight with Dracula there is rigged, and the credits roll. It isn't a game over: you resume at the Mirror of Life in Mechanic's Ascent with the Ferryman and carry on.

Tip

Do this on purpose the first time you reach the clock: take Soul Harvest off, let the trap spring, collect the trophy, then equip Soul Harvest and use the clock again to reach Isaac. A bad-ending finish does not count for the speedrun trophy.

Finish the game and get the normal ending

TypeSilver
MissableNo

How to earn it

Get the normal ending: beat Dracula's second form on the Castle Rooftops without Absolution equipped. Paris stays cursed, but the game carries on after the credits so you can go for the true ending on the same save.

Tip

This is the ending the speedrun needs, so you'll see it twice.

Finish the game and get the true ending

TypeGold
MissableNo

How to earn it

Get the true ending. Light all four virtue windows in Notre-Dame's Gallery of the Four Virtues (Courage, Prudence, Justice and Temperance, each opened by a specific Arcana), beat your shadow at the altar for Absolution, then go back through the Sanctuary of Solitude and the Grand Staircase and beat Dracula with Absolution equipped until his second form falls.

Tip

You don't need every Arcana, only the four virtue cards: the Warrior, the Sage, the Judge and the Whisperer. Step-by-step on our endings page.

Reach 100% game completion

TypeGold
MissableNo

How to earn it

Reach 100% completion. The in-game percentage counts the whole map, every boss, every weapon and relic, every stat upgrade, every completed Tarot card and the true ending. Candles, kills and secret areas on their own don't count.

Tip

This and the platinum come together at the end of your main run. If you're stuck on 99%, check the map for unexplored rooms and the Tarot menu for unfinished Works of Mercy.

Finish the game in less than 4 hours

TypeGold
MissableNo

How to earn it

Finish the game in under 4 hours. Players confirm it needs at least the normal ending: a bad-ending finish doesn't count. There's no New Game+, so it's a fresh save from the start.

Tip

Do it last, once you know the castle. The Custom Menu does not block trophies, so raise Rose's attack and stop normal enemies dealing damage to make it painless. Skip every optional boss and collectible, skip cutscenes and dialogue, and head straight for the boss keys. Players who know the route finish in under three hours.

Cover 19.86km

TypeBronze
MissableNo

How to earn it

Cover a total of 19.86 km. The distance is cumulative.

Tip

It comes naturally: almost half the early players already have it. A 100% run with all the backtracking gets there long before the end.

True Belmont

Kill an enemy with the Fallen's arcana spell while having a whip weapon equipped

TypeBronze
MissableNo

How to earn it

Kill an enemy with The Fallen's spell (Holy Cross) while a whip-type weapon is equipped. You get The Fallen from the first boss and the first whip in the Catacombs (Hall of the Fallen Angels).

Tip

Weaken a basic enemy with normal hits, then finish it with the cross. The Fallen's own Works of Mercy (find three whips, kill ten enemies with a whip) also want you using whips, so it all fits together.
