🔒 Trophy Hunting · Server Shutdowns

Platinum Trophies You Can Never Get

Some platinums aren't hard — they're impossible. When a game's online servers are switched off or it gets delisted, any trophy tied to multiplayer becomes permanently locked, and the platinum dies with it. Here are ten platinum trophies that are gone for good, why each one is unobtainable, and the lesson for every trophy hunter.

💡 The takeaway: if a platinum has even one trophy that needs online servers, don't leave it sitting. Servers get switched off with little warning — we flag every server-dependent trophy on our guides so you know what to grab before the plug gets pulled.

Dead online co-opPS3

Valve's co-op masterpiece hides a killer. The "Professor Portal" trophy requires you to finish the online co-op calibration course with a partner — and with the PS3's matchmaking long gone, there's no way to connect. Everything else is doable; that one online trophy locks the platinum.

Why it's gone: online co-op matchmaking is defunct, so the required co-op trophy can't be started.

Servers off · 2022PS4

The PS4's launch-day shooter shut its multiplayer servers in 2022. A batch of trophies is tied to online ranks and modes, so the moment the servers went dark, those trophies — and the platinum — became impossible to complete.

Why it's gone: the online rank and match trophies can no longer be earned.

One broken trophyPS4

The cruellest example on the list. Almost the entire platinum is single-player — but one online trophy tied to the "Scrap Crew" leaderboard system broke when its servers were switched off, and it drags the whole platinum down with it.

The lesson: a single server-dependent trophy can sink an otherwise offline platinum.

Servers off · 2024PS4

The asymmetric horror hit lost its servers in December 2024 amid a licensing dispute. Its multiplayer session trophies vanished overnight, sealing the platinum for anyone who hadn't already finished the online grind.

Why it's gone: licensing killed the servers, and with them the multiplayer trophies.

Delisted · 2024–25PS4 · PS5

The freshest casualty. Delisted in late 2024 with servers switched off in 2025, its online-match trophies became unobtainable — a platinum dead barely two years after launch, and a reminder that even brand-new games aren't safe.

The lesson: yearly sports titles have short server lives — platinum them early or not at all.

Servers off · 2020PS3

A beloved licensed game with a fatal flaw. Activision pulled the multiplayer servers back in 2020, and a batch of trophies for online co-op and leveling can no longer be earned — locking the platinum for good.

Why it's gone: online co-op and progression trophies need servers that no longer exist.

Fully shut down · 2021PS4

Gearbox's hero-shooter went one step further than most — it was fully shut down on 31 January 2021. The game literally can't be played online anymore, so every online progression trophy died with it, along with any hope of the platinum.

Why it's gone: the entire game is offline-defunct — a total shutdown, not just a server trim.

Servers offlinePS4

Sony took the LittleBigPlanet servers offline for good after ongoing security problems — cutting access to the community and online-play trophies the platinum depends on. A sad end for one of PlayStation's most creative series.

Why it's gone: the community/online trophies rely on servers Sony has permanently retired.

Servers off · 2026PS4

The freshest kill of all. BioWare's always-online shooter was switched off completely on 12 January 2026 — the whole game is now unplayable. Its rare "Grandmaster" platinum went from a hard-earned badge to flat-out impossible overnight, and it's not coming back.

The lesson: an always-online game with no offline mode is the riskiest platinum of all — when the servers die, so does everything.

Servers off · 2023PS4

DICE's parkour sequel leaned on online routes and user-generated content. EA shut those servers in December 2023, and two trophies that need other players' creations — "User Generated Finisher" (complete a user-made Time Trial) and "You Can't Keep Me Down" (reach a user-created Beat L.E.) — can no longer be completed.

Why it's gone: two trophies depend on user-generated online content the servers no longer host.

Don't chase a dying platinum

Server shutdowns rarely come with much warning. On every PIXELFORGE guide we call out exactly which trophies need online servers — so you always know what to grab before it's gone.
