Star Wars: Zero Company
XCOM comes to the Clone Wars. From Firaxis XCOM veterans at Bit Reactor โ our review, the Expert + Beskar roadmap, and all 53 trophies explained.
The Review
The tactics game Star Wars always deserved
Made by Bit Reactor โ a studio built from Firaxis XCOM veterans โ and co-developed with Respawn, Zero Company is exactly what it looks like: a proper XCOM-style tactics game dropped into the Clone Wars. You play Hawks, a customisable ex-Republic officer leading Zero Company, a ragtag outfit of mercs and specialists working the war's grimy edges. Battles play out top-down, each unit gets three Action Points a turn, and every shot is a percentage gamble โ miss a 90% and you'll feel it.
What lifts it above a Star Wars reskin is the Bond system and the roster. Operators who fight together build bonds that unlock combo abilities, and each named companion โ Trick the trooper, Luco the Umbaran, Kabb the prizefighter, Jae the baroness, Cly the Mandalorian, Tel the padawan โ has a personal story arc. Add Force powers, astromechs, deep weapon and squad customisation, and a 30โ40 hour campaign, and there's real strategic meat here.
For trophy hunters it's a fair but demanding platinum. There's no online, and most trophies come from simply playing well across a campaign โ completing missions, maxing bonds, finishing operator stories and hitting combat milestones. The wall is difficulty: the platinum requires an Expert clear, and the hardest trophy also needs Beskar Mode, a permadeath hardcore modifier. Nail your positioning and squad builds and it's very doable; get sloppy and permadeath will end your run.
What we loved
- XCOM-quality tactics with a genuine Star Wars soul
- The Bond system makes squad-building matter
- Six characterful operator arcs + deep customisation
- No online โ a self-contained solo platinum
What frustrated us
- The Expert + Beskar run is a real skill test
- Permadeath can gut a campaign fast
- A long grind: 50 optional missions + 1,138 kills
- Some Bond pairings need deliberate squad planning
Platinum Roadmap
The road to Zero Company Legend
Difficulty trophies stack, so an Expert clear also credits Story, Normal and Hard. The smart play is to learn the systems and grind the bulk on a comfortable run, then commit to one clean Expert + Beskar campaign for the two golds.
1Playthrough 1 โ a comfortable campaign (Story/Normal). Use this run to learn the systems safely: complete the story missions, finish all six operator stories, build Very High Bonds, hit the combat feats, and grind the 50 optional missions and 1,138 kills. Nothing here is difficulty-locked, so do it where permadeath can't ruin you.
2Sweep the roster & economy. Recruit 20 operators, spend at the Black Market, unlock every Regional Reward, land the Hutt Roulette prize three times, and fully customise a weapon and an operator. Let a member fall for A Natural Part of Life if it hasn't happened.
3Playthrough 2 โ Expert + Beskar Mode. Start a fresh campaign on Expert with Beskar Mode on. Finishing it grants every difficulty trophy at once (Legend, Captain, Operator, Veteran, Hired Gun). Play cautiously โ overwatch, high ground and Focus Points keep your squad alive under permadeath.
4Cleanup โ Platinum. Mop up any stray combat or Bond trophies, and Zero Company Legend pops with the last one.
Plan your Bonds early. Very High Bond trophies (Hawks with each companion, plus specific pairs like Trick & Luco and Kabb & Jae) need those operators deployed together repeatedly. Field the required pairings from the start of a run so the bonds are maxed by the finish rather than left to a frantic late grind.
Every Trophy
All 53 trophies โ explained
Grouped by type, each with how to unlock it. This is a play-it-well platinum โ no collectibles to hunt, so everything below is earned through smart squad management and combat.
Difficulty & Modes 5 trophies โ they stack
Beating a higher difficulty credits every lower one, so a single Expert run covers four of these. Beskar Mode is a separate hardcore/permadeath toggle needed only for Legend.

Hired Gun
Story+Details
Finish the campaign on Story difficulty or higher. You'll get this automatically the first time you complete the game on any setting.

Veteran
Normal+Details
Finish the campaign on Normal or higher โ automatically credited if you clear on Normal, Hard or Expert.

Operator
Hard+Details
Finish the campaign on Hard or higher. Hard reduces weapon range and starting Bond levels and disables the Bacta Tank, so lean on cover and Overwatch.

Captain
ExpertDetails
Finish the campaign on Expert, the hardest difficulty. Positioning, high ground and Focus Points are everything โ a single reckless turn can cost an operator.

Legend
MissableExpert ยท BeskarDetails
Finish the campaign on Expert with Beskar Mode enabled โ the hardcore permadeath modifier. Do it in the same run as Captain. Play deliberately, keep a reserve operator or two, and never take a coin-flip shot you don't have to.

Story-progression trophies โ you can't miss these on a full playthrough. They pop as you complete each named story mission.

A Natural Part of Life
Details
Lose a member of Zero Company. Do this on your comfortable lower-difficulty run โ let an expendable operator fall in a mission you'll finish anyway. Don't try to force it during the Expert + Beskar run, where a permanent loss can snowball and cost you the campaign.

FAQ
Star Wars: Zero Company platinum โ quick answers
Is Star Wars: Zero Company hard to platinum?
It's a fair 7/10. Almost everything comes from playing a full campaign well, but the platinum requires an Expert clear, and one gold (Legend) also needs Beskar Mode โ a permadeath hardcore modifier. Solid tactics and careful positioning make it very doable.
How long does the platinum take?
Roughly 60โ90 hours. A comfortable first campaign with all the operator stories, Bonds, 50 optional missions and the 1,138-kill grind is the bulk; the Expert + Beskar run is faster once you know the systems.
Do the difficulty trophies stack?
Yes. Beating a higher difficulty credits every lower one, so a single Expert run grants Hired Gun, Veteran, Operator and Captain together. Legend additionally requires Beskar Mode to be on for that Expert run.
What's the grindiest trophy?
Active Duty (50 optional missions) and If You Know You Know (1,138 kills). Both tick up together as you run side missions, which also build Bonds and credits โ so grind them in parallel.
Are there any missable trophies?
Nothing is permanently missable across a platinum's worth of runs, but plan your Bonds early โ the Very High Bond pairs need those operators deployed together repeatedly, so field the required pairings from the start rather than scrambling at the end.
