RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Jagex brings RuneScape's world to a survival-crafting sandbox. Our review, the platinum roadmap, and all 51 trophies explained in depth — every region boss and the level-99 grind.
RuneScape, reborn as a survival sandbox
Jagex has done something clever with RuneScape: Dragonwilds: it takes the comfort-food loop of gathering, skilling and questing that made RuneScape a 20-year institution and drops it into a modern, third-person survival-crafting world you can play solo or in co-op with friends. Chop, mine, cook, build a base, craft gear, and push each skill toward the iconic level 99 — it's RuneScape muscle memory in a brand-new body.
The world of Ashenfall is the star, a set of distinct regions — Brynmoor, Ghornfell, Fellhollow, Dowdun Reach and the desert of Umbral Sands — each with its own quests, resources and a towering boss to topple, from Velgar in the Fractured Plains to the final showdown with Queen Kuldra. The magic-as-utility system is the highlight: spells like Rocksplosion, Axtral Projection and Fishnado turn grinding into something genuinely fun, letting you mine a whole vein or fell a grove in a single cast.
It's not perfect — the survival systems are light, and the endgame is a familiar RuneScape grind — but for fans of the world, and for co-op groups who like a cosy build-and-explore loop with real RPG depth, Dragonwilds is a genuinely great time and a smart translation of what makes RuneScape tick.
The road to Legend of Ashenfall
A long but low-stress 5/10 platinum — no online-only trophies, nothing missable in a single save. The wall is time: level 99 in all 12 skills is the bulk of the ~80–100 hours. Co-op speeds the gathering considerably.
