Every trophy in the order you'll earn it — the story run and its bosses, all Kyoto side content, the combat feats, the Carnage clear and the Boss Rematch grind. Pairs with our boss guide and collectibles guide.
Part 1
Story run — clear Kyoto as you go
Play on Action (Medium), master the Issen, and clear side content as you go — nothing is permanently missable (you can Continue after the credits to mop up), but it's tidiest done per district. Beat every story boss along the way (full tactics on the boss guide).
Progress the campaign and defeat each major boss as you reach it — from the opening duel with Sasaki Ganryu through to Shuten Doji and the Byakue at Kiyomizu-dera.
Trophy · BronzeOnimusha Showdown — Win the opening duel against Sasaki Ganryu at Kiyomizu-dera. A pure 1-on-1 — use it to learn Deflect Issen: block his strings, then counter the recovery. Story-unmissable.
Trophy · BronzeGet Stuffed — Defeat Daidara in the Oni Refuge. A heavy bruiser with slow, telegraphed swings — deflect the wind-up and Issen the long recovery.
Trophy · BronzeTwisted Fates — Defeat Rasho-gan in Kyoto (unlocked after you recover the three statues). Chip its stamina, then finish a stagger with a Break Issen on a glowing part.
Trophy · BronzeHowling Wind — Defeat Ifuu at Windswept Kennin-ji. A fast flurry-duelist — don't trade buttons; Deflect Issen his combos and counter between strings.
Trophy · BronzeDokyo's Fixation — Defeat the Greater Nue in the Oikeniwa Pond Garden. A large beast with wide sweeps — dodge the swings, break its stamina, Break Issen the openings.
Trophy · BronzeBenkei: Out, but Not Down — Defeat Benkei during ‘Bloodbath on the Bridge’. Break his guard first, then his stamina, then execute.
Trophy · BronzeCrashing Lightning — Defeat Burai at the temple. A lightning-fast striker — deflect cleanly to build Blazing State and punish each gap with Issen.
Trophy · BronzeWide Awake — Defeat Shuten Doji to end ‘The Demon on the Mount’. Large and aggressive — make Break Issen windows and save Oni Awakening for its rage phase.
Trophy · BronzeThe Perfect Storm — Beat Ifuu and Burai together in ‘Storm Chaser’. It's a 2-on-1 — keep moving, isolate one target, and pop Oni Awakening to even the odds.
Trophy · BronzeWe Done Here? — Defeat Sasaki Ganryu again at Togetsu-kyo Bridge, Arashiyama. A faster, tougher rematch — everything from the first duel still applies.
Trophy · BronzeEnd This Madness — Defeat Dokyo at the end of Arashiyama. Deflect his strings, break stamina, and finish with Break Issen.
Trophy · BronzeBaited by Benkei — Defeat Benkei again in the final mission, ‘The Clash at Rendaino’. A harder second bout — same plan, tighter timing.
Trophy · BronzeTruly, Thank You — Beat the final boss, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, across his three phases. Keep a Hozuki Pouch and Oni Awakening ready and Break Issen each phase break.
Trophy · BronzeServes You Right — Defeat the Byakue at Kiyomizu-dera Temple. It appears as a Chance Encounter, so you have to seek it out — it isn't on the main path.
Every boss falls to the same rhythm: deflect the flurries, break the stamina, then
Break Issen to execute. Boss-by-boss detail is on our
boss guide.
Part 2
Kyoto side content & collectibles
Sweep each district as you clear it. Full detail on our side content and collectibles guides.
Clear the Mysteries of Kyoto and Chance Encounters, rescue townspeople, the merchant and every Lion Dog, and collect all the Genma notes.
Trophy · BronzeMystery Solved — Complete your first Mystery of Kyoto — the investigative ‘Curious Cases’ found around the city (8 in total).
Trophy · SilverDemystified — Complete all 8 Mysteries of Kyoto. Track them in the Curious Cases menu and clear each as you reach its district.
Trophy · BronzeLife-Saver — Complete your first Chance Encounter — the optional side objectives that pop up as you explore (18 in total).
Trophy · SilverNo Job Too Small — Complete all 18 Chance Encounters. A few only appear after story progress, so revisit districts and watch the map for new markers.
Trophy · BronzeCitizen Savior — Rescue 30 townspeople from attacking Genma and speak to each afterward — the conversation is what banks the count.
Trophy · BronzeSelfish Selflessness — Rescue a merchant being attacked by Genma (a special townsfolk rescue). Saving one also opens their shop.
Trophy · BronzeNo Dog Left Behind — Rescue your first Lion Dog — small caged shrine-dogs dotted around Kyoto (36 in total). Free one to start the counter.
Trophy · SilverFor the Love of Dog — Rescue all 36 Lion Dogs across Kyoto. Use the map/Spirit Mirror to sweep them region by region; none are tied to missable story beats.
Trophy · BronzeGenma-ologist — Collect all 23 Genma Notes — lore documents scattered through the levels. Grab them as you clear each area and mop up leftovers via mission replay.
Part 3
Max your progression
All paid for with red souls — clear these before your Carnage run so you go in strong.
Learn and upgrade every skill, enhance all equipment, Hozuki Pouches and charms to max, and collect all Oni Armaments.
Trophy · BronzeThe Winding Way of the Sword — Learn and upgrade all of either the basic or the special skill set — a step on the way to Well-Rounded (which needs both).
Trophy · SilverWell-Rounded — Learn and upgrade every basic and special skill in the trees. Pour red souls into the full set — most comes naturally, farm the rest.
Trophy · BronzeLooking Sharp — Enhance any piece of equipment (sword, gauntlet or clothing) for the first time at the upgrade bench.
Trophy · SilverDressed to Kill — Enhance all equipment — sword, gauntlet and clothing — to maximum level. A red-soul and materials grind you finish on the 100% run.
Trophy · SilverOni Armory — Acquire all 7 Oni Armaments (the special weapons). Most come from story progress; a few are rewards for Mysteries and Chance Encounters.
Trophy · BronzeHealth Is Wealth — Max out a single Hozuki Pouch (your healing item) with enhancement materials — one fully-upgraded pouch is enough.
Trophy · SilverMedical Marvel — Max out all 9 Hozuki Pouches. A big material grind — farm Oni/Power Stones and enemy drops, and finish it on your completion run.
Trophy · BronzeA Real Charmer — Max out a single Charm to its highest level.
Trophy · SilverCharmed Life — Max out all 15 Charms (passive accessories). Same material grind as the pouches — bank stones and enhance them all to the top.
Part 4
Combat-feat cleanup
Cumulative counters — most tick over naturally; farm the rest in a dense enemy area with Oni Awakening up.
Trophy · SilverBrutalist — Land 50 Issen counters (the one-flash parry-kill). Unlock the wide-window Deflect Issen early and they pile up through normal combat; Chain Issen kills also count, so farming Flow State feeds this too. Short at the end? Replay any dense-enemy mission and Issen through it.
Trophy · BronzeFlow State — Kill 50 enemies with Chain Issen — after an Issen lands, tap attack again to carry the cut into the next enemy and cleave a whole group. Best farmed in a tight cluster of weak Genma: land one Issen, then keep tapping to chain down the pack. Doubles up with Brutalist.
Trophy · BronzeBurning Blade — Kill 50 enemies while in Blazing State (you ignite from clean, repeated parries). Trigger it in a big fight and clear the crowd before it fades; a dense encounter on mission replay tops it up quickly.
Trophy · BronzeOni's Oni — Kill 50 enemies while Oni Awakened. Bank five purple souls, pop Awakening in a crowded area, and mow the pack down during the ~20-second invincible window. Parry-heavy fights refill purple fast, so this stacks with your Blazing/Chain farming.
Trophy · BronzeWielder of Oni Armaments — Defeat 100 enemies with Oni Armament attacks (your special weapons). Just make an Armament your go-to finisher in regular combat — it ticks up naturally across a playthrough with no dedicated farm.
Trophy · BronzeStop Motion — Perform 50 Reflex Combos — the follow-up from a perfectly-timed Reflex dodge (dodge into an attack at the last instant, then strike). Bait a telegraphed swing, dodge through it, punish; repeat on any aggressive enemy.
Trophy · BronzeSilent Violence — Assassinate 20 unaware enemies from behind. Approach quietly — don't sprint — and use the takedown prompt. Patrolling Genma who haven't spotted you are the targets, so pick them off in level sections before combat starts.
Trophy · BronzePinch Hitter — Deflect 50 projectiles back at enemies. Ranged Genma (archers and casters) are your source — time the deflect as the shot arrives to send it back. Archer-heavy rooms and the Ace Archer areas rack these up fast.
Trophy · BronzeDeadeye — Land 100 bow headshots. Aim for the head on any ranged target; the five Ace Archer Chance Encounters are effectively a built-in farm, and picking off archers between fights covers the rest.
Trophy · BronzeWinning Is What Matters — Land 50 attacks using environmental objects — the breakable hazards and destructible props in combat arenas. Get in the habit of using them whenever one's in reach; several arenas are full of them.
Trophy · BronzeUntouchable — Perform 50 Grab Reversals — counter an enemy's grab attempt with the reversal prompt (Circle) the moment it lands. Brutes and grapplers telegraph grabs clearly, so bait and reverse them over and over.
Trophy · BronzeComing Through! — Break an enemy's guard 50 times by draining their stamina with sustained pressure and heavy hits until it shatters. Shielded and guarding Genma are the fastest source.
Trophy · BronzeHelm Splitter — Break 100 shields or armor pieces using Oni Power attacks. Target shielded and armored Genma specifically and lead with Oni Power moves — 100 is a lot, so build the habit from early on.
Trophy · BronzeGet This Thing Off Me — Absorb 30+ souls in a single collection with the Oni Gauntlet. Clear a big pack without vacuuming as you go, let the souls stack up, then hold the absorb to hoover all 30+ at once — a dense arena makes it trivial.
Trophy · BronzeBerserker — Finish 3 enemies with back-to-back Break Issen executions. Stamina-break several enemies close together (a crowd of mid-tier Genma works), then chain the finishers one after another with no gap.
Trophy · BronzeGenma Griller — Set three enemies ablaze at once with the Firebird Flute (an Oni Armament — grab it at the Gojo Street – East Spirit Shrine). Herd three Genma close together, then hit the group with the flute's fire.
Part 5
Carnage & the rematches
The two big trophies — save them for last, when your build and reads are sharp.
Beat one Boss Rematch, complete a full run on Carnage, then grind every Boss Rematch on all difficulty levels.
Trophy · BronzeSecond Helping — Beat any single opponent in Boss Rematch mode (unlocked once you've cleared bosses in the story). One win is all this one needs.
Trophy · GoldTrue Onimusha — Finish a full playthrough on Carnage. It only unlocks for New Game+ after your first clear, and it's far easier there with a maxed Musashi and carried-over skills.
Trophy · GoldGlutton for Punishment — Beat every Boss Rematch opponent on all difficulty levels — the platinum's biggest ask. Climb difficulty by difficulty as your build improves rather than jumping to the top.
With all 51 done, the platinum is yours.
Trophy · PlatinumPeerless — Earn every other trophy to unlock the platinum.
