The Review

What it is (and why we're covering it)

Crimson Moon is a gothic high-Renaissance action-RPG from ProbablyMonsters that launched on PS5, Xbox and PC for just $19.99. You play a Nephilim β€” a half-human, half-angel warrior β€” reclaiming the fallen city of Gildenarch from demonic corruption through brutal melee combat, replayable hunts and boss fights, solo or in two-player online co-op.

The trophy list is built around a roguelite run structure: you clear District Missions, complete Full Runs, level up, gather souls, collect the three Abraxas Stones, and take on tougher Hellish difficulty. It's exactly the kind of affordable co-op gem we like to cover.

Early reviews frame it as a Souls-meets-roguelite blend and a welcoming entry point to the genre. A full run runs about 30 minutes; difficulty scales across β€œskull” tiers (with Hellish higher up), and you're granted more lives as you level β€” so the run loop gets friendlier the longer you play. Two systems drive builds: Nexus Gates hand you temporary Boons mid-run, and after a successful run you Purify the gear you found to keep it permanently.

Important β€” this is a launch guide. The game came out today, so the trophy names and requirements below are confirmed from the trophy list, but exact difficulty, platinum time, final grades and collectible locations are still being verified. We'll fill those in as the community and our own runs map them out β€” nothing here is guessed.

What we loved

  • Only $19.99
  • Full 2-player online co-op
  • Brutal melee + boss hunts
  • Affordable, achievable-looking platinum

What frustrated us

  • Launched today β€” data still settling
  • Roguelite grind (levels, souls, kills)
  • Final trophy grades not yet locked by Sony
  • Collectible locations still being mapped
Platinum Roadmap

The road to Nephilim (platinum)

A roadmap built from the trophy requirements plus what launch reviews confirm about the systems. Two habits pay off throughout: start on lower 'skull' difficulty and raise it as you get stronger (you also earn more lives as you level), and Purify your gear after every successful run so your build β€” and the 'Blessed' count β€” keeps growing. Expect exact timings and collectible routes to be added as they're confirmed.

1Play the campaign. Clear the Prologue, meet Mereda, and work through the districts β€” The Forsaken Streets, Archspire Cathedral, Ramshorn Keep, Shoreditch Prison and Elk Grove Academy β€” picking up the three Abraxas Stones along the way.
2Complete a Full Run (Victory) solo or in co-op, then keep going for Completionist (all primary missions and bosses across runs).
3Level and build up. Reach level 30 (the 5/10/20/30 milestones stack), bank 100,000 souls, get a Rare+ item in every slot in one run, and upgrade a weapon/shield to Rare+ at the Blacksmith.
4Grind the cumulatives. Kill 1,000 enemies, collect 50 lore scrolls, and collect & purify 50 items across your runs.
5Clean up the skill trophies β†’ Platinum. Land a perfect parry, trigger Angel Mode 5Γ—, do 3 Nexus Gate objectives, finish a District Mission with no deaths, and clear one on Hellish difficulty. Grab Slay Together in co-op and the platinum is yours.
Launch guide β€” read this. Crimson Moon released today, so the trophy names and requirements are confirmed, but final grades are provisional (Sony hasn't locked the point split yet) and difficulty, platinum time and exact collectible locations are still being verified. We'll update this guide as those are nailed down β€” we won't publish specifics we can't confirm. No trophies appear to be permanently missable given the roguelite run structure, but we'll confirm that too.

FAQ

Crimson Moon platinum β€” quick answers

How many trophies does Crimson Moon have?
The base game has 31 trophies including the platinum (Nephilim). The names and requirements are confirmed; the exact grade split is still provisional at launch.
Is there a platinum, and is it hard?
Yes β€” 'Nephilim' unlocks when you earn every other trophy. Early reviews call the game accessible and a welcoming roguelite, with the final boss beatable on lower 'skull' difficulties and extra lives handed out as you level β€” so the platinum looks more like a time investment (level 30, a 1,000-kill grind, 50 lore scrolls, purifying 50 items) than a skill wall, with 'No Deaths' and 'Hellish' as the trickier bits. We'll put an exact difficulty number on it once we've run it ourselves.
Are there missable trophies?
Nothing looks permanently missable given the roguelite run structure β€” you can keep replaying districts and runs. We'll confirm this as we play.
Does it have co-op trophies?
Yes β€” 'Slay Together' needs a co-op mission, and every hunt is playable in two-player online co-op. Our Co-op Partner Finder can pair you up.
Why doesn't this guide have collectible locations yet?
Crimson Moon launched today and reliable maps don't exist yet. We publish verified info only β€” the 50 lore scrolls and purify-50 routes will be added once confirmed, rather than guessed.
