June Nintendo Direct: Kingdom Hearts IV, Deltarune Chapter 5 and a Stacked Switch 2 Lineup

17 June 2026 · PIXELFORGE

Nintendo closed out a huge showcase season with its June 2026 Direct, and the message was loud and clear: the Switch 2 now has the third-party muscle to sit alongside Nintendo's own heavy hitters. It was a dense presentation, so here's everything that mattered.

The headline reveal — and the runaway winner of post-show fan polls, taking 27% of the vote — was the full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, due on Switch 2 later in 2026. The only complaint was that the teaser lasted mere seconds; Nintendo clearly knows it doesn't need to oversell that one.

For indie fans, the moment of the show was Deltarune Chapter 5, which landed a release date of June 24 — just days away. Toby Fox's Undertale follow-up continues to roll out chapter by chapter, and it's now pushing toward the back half of its planned story. Right beside it, Star Fox confirmed its June 25 launch alongside a free demo, giving Switch 2 owners two big reasons to fire up the new hardware this month.

The third-party support is where the Direct really flexed. Kingdom Hearts IV is coming to Switch 2 day-one — a genuine statement of intent — while Final Fantasy XIV Online arrives in early access this August, bringing a full-blown MMO to the platform. Atlus also confirmed Metaphor: ReFantazio for November 12, rounding out a remarkably RPG-heavy slate.

Capcom showed up in force too, with Onimusha: Way of the Sword (September 25) and an expanded Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen (October 9), plus Stellar Blade slashing its way onto Switch 2 before the year is out. It's the kind of lineup that would have been unthinkable on the original Switch.

The biggest news for Xenoblade fans was twofold: the entire trilogy is getting Switch 2 editions — the first available immediately — and a brand-new entry, Xenoblade Genesis, was announced as a Switch 2 exclusive for 2027. Add in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (October 22) with its 12 motion-controlled sports, and the more traditional Rhythm Heaven Groove (July 2) packing over 80 minigames, and there really was something for everyone.

For the completionists in the PIXELFORGE crowd, this is a gold mine: an RPG-stacked back half of 2026 means a steady stream of 100%-completion runs, secret bosses and sprawling side content to map out. We'll be covering the biggest of these with full guides as they land — starting with the ones dropping this month.
